A lelping hand

Lelp is a document we spend a lot of time on. It contains the most up-to-date information on Lertap, describing the major revisions made to the software, and providing examples of how to put the revisions to practical use. For example, Lertap's ability to make quintile plots first appeared in November 2003; Lelp is the only source of information on how to get value from Lertap quintiles. Eigenvalues, tetrachoric correlations, SMCs (squared multiple correlations), support for EMQs (extended-matching questions, allowing up to 26 options), cheat-checking, box plots, and DIF (differential item functioning), are some of the other topics covered only in Lelp.

Lelp is a single document, but we use a nifty hypertext authoring system to publish it in different formats. We publish PDF and CHM versions of Lelp, and we also publish Lelp as a website unto itself. Each of these three versions of Lelp contains the same content (in theory).

All versions of Lelp are free. The PDF version, portable document format, can be used on a real variety of computers, including Windows and Macintosh. The CHM version, on the other hand, is a compiled html help system useful only to Windows users— the CHM version will not run on a Macintosh (although there are said to be chm readers for Macs).

Note: Windows users automatically get a copy of both the CHM and the PDF version when they download a "30-day Trial Copy for Windows"from ASC; similarly, Mac users get a copy of the PDF version when they obtain their version.

The links below let you leap for Lelp. If you click on the PDF version, or on the CHM version, the browser you're using will (in theory) download the corresponding file to your computer.

Note that there are two sets of links. Use the top set if you are using the Excel 2003 version of Lertap (such as Version 5.6.3 and above, that is, 5.6.x); use the bottom set if Excel 2007 or Excel 2010 is what you run Lertap in (Lertap Version 5.7.2 and above).
